what if we could actually live in truth? We create what we think is safe and live in that because the truth is scary. “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.'” (John 14:6 NLT) Jesus lives in us and He is truth, so we have truth living in us. As kids we’re taught to be perfect, or at least to try to be perfect. “Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people. It will keep you cramped and insane your whole life.” (Anne Lamott) Perfectionism defeats our initiative. It destroys our happiness. No one is perfect. “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT) Grace pulls you out of perfectionism and faith allows you to continue walking away from it. “You foolish Galatians! Who put a spell on you? Before your very eyes you had a clear description of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross! Tell me this one thing: did you receive God’s Spirit by doing what the Law requires or by hearing the gospel and believing it? How can you be so foolish! You began by God’s Spirit; do you now want to finish by your own power?” (Galatians 3:1-3 GNT) Grace means all of our mistakes now serve a purpose instead of shame.
