We tend to get stuck because God doesn’t give us what we want but instead gives us what we need. “When I didn’t get what I wanted, God always has given me something better. That is just who He is.” (Charles Stanley)
“This same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NLT
His character in us helps us know the difference between our wants and our needs. We need to inspect our expectations of God.
I depend on God alone;
I put my hope in him.
He alone protects and saves me;
he is my defender,
and I shall never be defeated.
My salvation and honor depend on God;
he is my strong protector;
he is my shelter.
Psalm 62:5-7 GNT
“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. 4 And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady.” Romans 5:3-4 TLB
Let’s not be prisoners to wants, but free as God meets our needs.
