Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35 NLT

We all want life–and we carry that life in us.

Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life. Be very sure now, you who have been trained to a self-sufficient maturity, that you enter into a generous common life with those who have trained you, sharing all the good things that you have and experience. Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life. So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith. Galatians 6:5-10 MSG

When my wife and I were invited to Reliance Church in March of 2016 by our good friends and siblings in Christ, I really was in need of meeting God again.I was empty, parched from the inside, dry, splintered, and in need of His Spiritual arms. Because of where I was in my head, I know now that the carnal man inside of me was ready to reject Pastor Joel’s message, waiting to be critical of the teaching. But, what happened was very interesting. Pastor Joel has a gift that not many others do. Pastor Joel’s message was so practical and applicable to what was happening in my life, that the battle poised, carnal man could only nod his head in agreement. The practicality of the message was wrapped around the tender, nutritious Word, and delivered in a way that the carnal man and son of God were edified simultaneously.
The Word of God is real food for me. I already knew that. What I did not realize was that it mattered very much, who was preparing the food (the Word).I had arrived at a place in my life where learning from most pastors was not happening. The enemy had veiled my eyes to learning, but my Savior had another plan…He sent me to Reliance to learn from a son of God who spoke through that veil. Each week since that first day, I begin to anticipate Pastor Joel’s message days before I’m sitting in the Sunday service. I am a doctoral student in forensic clinical psychology. As a student-scientist I have learned that our Father sends to us those who will feed and nurture us.With Pastor Joel’s teaching style, I have come to embrace a gratefulness for the Word because I know it is the real Truth, of which, science and logic are only branches that have been grafted in.The Body of the tree will forever be the Word of God. I heard from Pastor Joel what my spirit inside already knew; that all good things come from God. I can state without error that Pastor Joel is a good man. He is a messenger hearkening the flock to prepare His children for the wedding feast. If only God is good, then i tell you that i see our good God in the eyes and warmth of Pastor Joel.I have quickly come to experience a deep warmth for him. In my 48 years, he is the only one of his kind I have ever met.He is truly unique. Thank you, Pastor Joel. Lianne and I love you.The Lord bless thee, and keep thee; the Lord make His face to shine upon thee…Amen.
