Our Pastor
Pastor Joel studied at a Pentecostal School in Canada with a vision to do ministry in a spiritual way and not just religiously. He wanted to spread the message of Jesus that would connect with people on a personal level and allow them to grow spiritually at their own pace. He has a pastor’s heart that is committed to loving, serving and sharing life with people. Since 1981, he has been serving in different parts of the United States, such as Davenport Iowa, Farmington Hills MI, Covina CA, Brea CA, and now Chino CA, fulfilling his calling.Pastor Joel recognized the need for a church that would reach out to people who do not feel comfortable in traditional churches. He understands the difficulties people face in trying to live their lives according to God’s will without knowing how to be obedient. His main focus is on setting an example, communicating the message, and rejoicing in what a relationship with Jesus looks like. He believes that this is a supernatural opportunity to follow God’s lead and love Christ and others, transforming lives.With his passion for people and dedication to his mission, Pastor Joel is the ideal leader for those who want to progress in their spiritual journey. Our Story
Reliance began on July 19, 2008 with our first public gathering, a prayer meeting at our home in Chino. A small group of people felt led to partner in planting of a church in the Inland Empire. Our dream was to be a church where everyone felt welcomed and wanted, where people discovered something real, relevant and refreshing, and where people felt at home, all barriers removed, a comfortable place to discover God’s best for our lives.
On January 3,200 we arrived in the City of Upland and have been thrilled to be part of this great city. We have not just accepted being a church in the city but instead an active support to the programs in the City of Upland. Our heart continues to reach out to those in our wider community by bringing practical help, support, and the unconditional love of GOD.
On April 24, 2016 we moved to the City of Ontario and are thrilled to bring the Love of Christ to the surrounding community. As God would plan it he brought us back to our beginnings in chino valley and started to meet June 2020 on the corner of riverside and pipeline ave in Chino. We have chosen to plug into the chino valley to intentionally serve and support the events and programs. We are excited and really look forward to the relationships that will develop “Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.” Psalm 92:13 NKJV
